President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Saturday for Senegal to attend a meeting of selected African Heads of State. The meeting will discuss the way forward for the New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD).
It would be attended by the Heads of State of Algeria, Benin, Senegal, Niger, La Cote d’Ivoire, Gabon and Ghana with observers from the Secretariat of the Economic Community of West African States, West African Monetary Union and the African Development Bank.
British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, currently on a four-nation tour of West Africa would participate in the meeting. Issues to be discussed would include the financing of NEPAD and sub-regional integration.
Other members of the President’s delegation are Foreign Affairs Minister, Hackman Owusu-Agyemang; Minister of Economic Planning and Regional Integration, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom and officials of the Private Enterprise Foundation. President Kufuor would be away for two days.
