President Kufuor gives to Ejura Muslim community

Ejura (Ash), Nov. 26, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday presented 50 million cedis to the Muslim community at Ejura to purchase building materials towards the construction of a central mosque.

The presentation was made following a request by the Chief Imam, Alhaji Saliu when the President paid a working visit to the Ejura-Sekyedumase district last October.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, who made the presentation on behalf of the President, urged the people to refrain from negative tendencies that would disrupt peace in the area. He called on them to ensure peaceful elections by being law-abiding.

The Chief Imam and Mallam Suraju, chief of Ejura Zongo, who jointly received the donation, expressed their gratitude to President Kufuor in fulfilling his promise.

They saw the gesture as a reflection of a good leader and assured the President that they would use religion as a unifying factor.

The Regional Minister later called on the Ejura Traditional Council and presented a cash of 10 million cedis to the council as the pledge he made towards their yam festival.

Nana Kwaku Sarfo II, Ejurahene, thanked the Regional Minister for the gesture and assured him of the co-operation towards peaceful election.

He said there was peace in the area and is unfortunate that certain people always create problem to show that there is trouble in the area.

Madam Elizabeth Owusu, the District Chief Executive, appealed to the people to avoid casual sex which could lead to HIV/AIDS infection.
