Mabang (Ash), Aug 22, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday repeated government’s commitment to assist and encourage budding entrepreneurs to create wealth and jobs for the people. He said the initiative being undertaken by the management of Mabang Farms at Mabang in the Ahafo-Ano North District of Ashanti was worthy of emulation by agriculturists and other entrepreneurs. President Kufuor inspected the 400-hectare mixed crop farm made up of maize, rice, soyabean and cowpea as part of his official tour of the Ashanti Region.

Mr Fredrick Kyei, Managing Director of the Farm, appealed for reduction of the interest rate on agricultural inputs.

He said the project was undertaken to make Ghana self-sufficient in production of cereals and reduce the importation of cereals. Mr Kyei said the project with a work force of about 200 also produces poultry feed from the rice bran and soyabean.

He said the project would soon undertake an irrigation and food processing projects as well as cocoa production and establish similar projects in other parts of the country.
