President Kufuor attends UNESCO conference in Paris

Accra, Oct 3, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor is in Paris, France to address the 33rd session of UNESCO, which began on Monday and would end on 21 October, 2005.

The UNESCO General Conference would among other issues, discuss and approve the draft programme and 2006-2007 budget for education, natural sciences, social sciences, culture and communications.

There would also be a round table meeting of representatives of Ministries of Education and Environment and Science at the conference. The session, which marks the end of the Director-General, Mr Koichiro Matuure’s term would consider his second four-year tenure. The conference was preceded by the fourth Youth Forum on the theme, “Dialogue among cultures and civilisations” aimed at involving the youth in discussions taking place in the organisation. The Foreign Minister, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo and other government officials are accompanying the President.
