President Kufuor arrives home

Accra, Oct 29, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor has returned to Accra from the United Kingdom where he received the Chatham House Prize. Briefing newsmen on arrival Mr. Andrew Awuni, Press Secretary to the President, said the President was voted by members of the Chatham House as the winner of the 2008 prize.

He said the prize was in recognition of his efforts towards peace and development in Africa.

He said President Kufuor dedicated the prize to the people of Ghana and said it was through the support of Ghanaians that he had been able to make his achievements while in office. Before going to the UK President Kufuor paid a three day visit to the Netherlands.

Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Ministers of State, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt-Gen J.B. Danquah, and the Inspector General of Police, Mr Patrick Acheampong, were at the airport to welcome him.
