President Kufuor appeals to nurses to resume work

Worawora, Sept 30, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor has appealed to the striking nurses to resume work to save lives while problems associated with the Additional Duty Hours Allowance (ADHA) are tackled. He said the government would speed up action on their grievances with regard to the ADHA while long-term solution was found to other problems.

President Kufuor made the appeal when addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people of Worawora in the Jasikan District as part of his three-day official tour of the Volta Region.

He was reacting to a suggestion by the Worawurahene Daasebre Asare Baah II for the establishment of a Nurses Training College in the town. Daasebre Baah commended the government for establishing the National Health Insurance Scheme, the cocoa mass spraying exercise and appealed for the establishment of a rice mill at Worawora.

He suggested to the government to create another district for the area from the Jasikan District and called for the rehabilitation of roads in the area.
