President confirms IGP, CDS

The appointments of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante Apeatu; Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Major General Obed Akwa; and Chief of Army Staff Major Gen William Azure Ayamdo have been confirmed.

Their appointments were confirmed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in consultation with the Council of State pursuant to Article 202 and 212 of the 1992 constitution.

A statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, said the “appointments take effect forthwith”.

Before the constitution and swearing in of the Council of State, these top security officers were serving in an acting capacity.
