Presbyterian Church of Ghana launches ‘Club 1000’

Accra, March 25, GNA – Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong Manso, Moderator of the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Sunday called on Christians to give their possessions in furtherance of the work of God.

He said propagation of the gospel called for huge investment from all loving Christians to reach out to the hinterlands, adding; “this is a great commission from God that all Christians must not shy away from”. Rt-Rev. Frimpong Manso made the call at the launching of the church’s evangelism club dubbed: ‘Evangelism Club 1000’ at Christ Congregation, Adentan District in Accra.

He noted that the church had relied on its past glory for long without doing much to increase in number, “the church has not grown in members both qualitatively and quantitatively.”

Rt-Rev. Frimpong Manso said the church had set a target for 10 per cent increase in membership and was optimistic that with the establishment of the club, the church would undertake effective evangelism to win more souls for Jesus Christ.

“Bible studies would be increased among members who would witness to schools, prisons, hospitals and society in general as a new direction to boost the growth of Christendom,” he said.

Rt-Rev. Frimpong Manso noted that the church had neglected its duties that had affected the society in terms of discipline, corruption and social vices and with the establishment of the club and its outreach work such vices could be controlled.

He announced that the church would soon introduce medical evangelism in hospitals under its jurisdiction to make the gospel easily accessible and understandable to patients and visitors.

Rt-Rev. Frimpong Manso asked the leadership of the club to work earnestly in their new field to help realize the vision of the church. Rev. Godfred Bamfo, Director of Missions and Evangelism of the Church said establishment of the club was to inculcate the habits of witnessing into the members and communities.

He said the club with 1,000 members was open to everyone and each member would contribute one million cedis annually to support the work of the church throughout the country and called on Christians to support the church’s vision.
