Presby women to assist widows and orphans

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana Madina District Women’s Fellowship will organize a special cooking competition to raise funds to assist widows, orphans and the mentally deranged.

A statement issued to the media and signed by the President of the fellowship, Mrs Stella Adu Asare said. “As Christmas approaches, it is important for all Christians to remember the lonely, the poor and the widows and strive to assist them. The fellowship has therefore decided to reciprocate God’s wonderful gift – birth of Jesus Christ to mankind and we are also going to provide our widow’s mite to the needy. We believe strongly in what James, a servant of God and of our lord Jesus Christ wrote to all God’s people that…. “pure and generous religion is to take care of orphans and widows”…… James 1:21

Mrs Asare stated that although the fellowship has adopted Block 13 of Pantang Hospital. “There is the need to increase our assistance to make the inmates patients happy and comfortable”

The district President said the competition would take place on Thursday, December 14 at the premises of the Emmanuel Presbyterian from 2pm to – 5pm.
She disclosed that Tasty Tom – a subsidiary of OLAM GHANA LTD – producers of Tasty Tomatoes – has agreed to provide food and condiments for the Competition.

She therefore appealed to companies, philanthropists, churches, and individuals to attend the competition and also donate generously.

Nine participants who will participate in the competition from the Madina district Presbyterian Church are. Emmanuel, Faith, Salvation, Good shepherd and Mt Zion.The rest are Redemption, Bethlehem, Baba Yara and Northern Mission Ministry (NOM).

The guest speaker for the occasion is Hon Jennifer Dede Afagbeda, Madina Chief Executive.
