Presby Prisons’ Ministry donates to Kumasi Prisons

Kumasi, Dec. 28, GNA 96 The Prison’s Ministry of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church on Thursday donated items worth six million cedis to the inmates of the Kumasi Central Prisons in Kumasi. The items were made up of five bags of rice; 31 boxes of carbolic soap; second-hand clothing and chewing sticks.

Mr Addai Anim, Chairman of the Ministry, making the donation, said the Ministry has been actively involved in a series of programmes including preaching, praying and deliverances at the Prisons. He said the activities of the Ministry were, therefore, to help to transform the inmates to enable them to live better lives in the future. The Reverend Samuel Kofi Antwi, Director of the Prison’s Ministry of the Church, advised the inmates not to consider themselves as outcasts but to think of how to change their attitudes and to contribute meaningfully towards the socio-economic development of the country.

The Reverend Father Martin Padi, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons and Chaplain of the Kumasi Central Prisons, who received the items thanked the Ministry for the gesture and pledged that the items would be put to judicious use to enhance the living conditions of the inmates. He appealed to individuals, churches and organisations to emulate the Ministry and to donate generously at all times to support the inmates.
