Presby Church denies calling Asiedu Nketia a ‘drunk’

The Presbyterian Church of Ghana has denied ever describing the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a drunk.

The Church’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) has been quoted widely by many newspapers and websites as describing Johnson Asiedu Nketia as a drunk during a radio discussion programme.

The two were debating the Church’s statement calling on the Electoral Commission to suspend elections in the 45 newly created constituencies.

But Emmanuel Acheampong in an interview with XYZ News said nobody within the Church ever used that description for Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

“The Presbyterian church of Ghana as a faith believing institution and the first church established Christian institution which has a good cordial relationship with the NDC will never make that statement.

“So we want to put on record that we have never made that statement and will never make statement. It is all over the place that we have described our own senior member and friend as a drunk. I never made that statement and it will be the last statement I will make” Mr. Acheampong said.
