Presby Church children’s ministry supports children’s home

Kumasi, April 8, GNA – The Children’s Ministry of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church on Saturday donated 1.5 million cedis and some items worth 8.5 million cedis to the Kumasi Children’s Home.

The items include rice, sugar, biscuits, milk assorted soap, cooking oil, secondhand clothings and shoes.

The Reverend John Christopher Dapaah, Co-ordinator of the children’s ministry of the church making the donation said the gesture was its widow’s mite towards the upkeep of the children. He said one of the objectives of the ministry was to support the needy in society at all times and hoped the donation would enhance the living conditions of the children.

Mr Stephen Forkuoh, President of the children’s ministry, on his part stated that the ministry has planned to educate street children to enable them to go back to school.

He appealed to the government and other non-governmental organization to support children to acquire basic education to enable them to become future leaders of the country.

Mrs Theresa Tangey, Senior Child Care Officer, who received the items, thanked the Church for the gesture and appealed to individuals, churches and organizations to donate to the home for the upkeep of the children.
