Preparatory school teachers attend in-service course.

Gomoa Maim (C/R) March 29, GNA – The proprietor of Lancaster Preparatory School at Ekumfi Essarkyir in the Central Region, Mr Albert Mensah has said that the establishment of private schools in the rural areas are to complement the efforts of the government to give the Ghanaian child easy access to education.

Mr Mensah urged the people to discard the misconception that private schools kill the interest people have in public schools and instead encourage the proprietors to get the schools well established.

He was speaking at a closing ceremony of a weeklong in service course organised for teachers of Lancaster Preparatory Schools at Ekumfi Essarkyir and Gyeweni Nkwanta near Akim Oda at Gomoa Maim on Saturday.

Mr Mensah, who is also the assemblyman for Gomoa Maim said the establishment of good schools in the rural areas will help solve the rural-urban drift and urged the people not to see private schools as only profit making ventures.

Nana Kwesi Quansah, Mankrado of Gomoa Odumase, who was the Course Director appealed to proprietors of private schools set up packages to assist their teachers to go to training colleges and the universities to improve upon their academic qualifications.

He urged teachers to master the teacher’s manuals on the books their students use to enable them present effective lessons. Nana Amoasa Ababio, Obaatan of Gomoa Odumase, who chaired the function, urged teachers to let their students feel proud to associate themselves with their alma mater.

An unsuccessful student will have nothing good to say about his or her former school so teachers must work hard to ensure that they turn out successful future leaders.
