Tanoso (B/A) July 12, GNA – Mr Ben Nang-Ib, Senior Medical Assistant in-charge of the Tanoso Health Centre in the Techiman District, has called on husbands to encourage their pregnant wives to attend antenatal clinic.
He said it was risky for pregnant women to wait until their time of delivery before going to clinics or hospitals.
Mr. Nang-Ib made the call when he addressed more than 200 members of the Tanoso Walla Muslim Youth, Farmers and Traders Association after a clean-up exercise at the Tanoso Health Centre.
The exercise formed part of the association’s decision to regularly tidy the surroundings of the Centre to ensure good sanitation in the town.
Mr Nang-Ib stated that frequent check-ups by pregnant women at antenatal clinics would ensure safe deliveries and asked women to send their babies for immunization against the six childhood killer diseases.
Mr Nang-Ib advised the people, especially the youth against casual sex and encouraged married couples to practice family planning so that they would delivery the number of children they could look after. Mr Kofi Nimoh, the Treasurer and Project Supervisor of the Tanoso Town Council, commended the association for the clean-up campaign. He appealed to husbands to support to their wives to undertake income-generating activities to enable them to contribute to the management of the family.
Mr Nimoh asked them to send their children, especially the girls to school “since they can perform creditably well as their male counterparts.” He advised them to pay their tax regularly to enable the council to generate revenue for the development of the area. The Chairman of the Association, Mallam Adamu Walla, assured authorities the Centre that they would continue to offer communal labour there.
