A Spanish Civil Guard search of a suspicious vehicle at the Morocco – Spain (Melilla) border at Farhana on Tuesday afternoon made an unexpected discovery – a pregnant woman beneath the car dashboard. It’s a method which has been used by immigrants in the past, but it’s unclear on this occasion if she was there of her own free will or not.
The woman told officers she was from Ghana, EFE reports.
The fire brigade were called out to free her and she was given first aid treatment for breathing difficulties and other injuries.
The two Moroccan men who were in the vehicle and who ran off when the car was halted for inspection, were caught after a chase by the Civil Guard.
