Pregnant woman dies in accident

Baaniekrom, (Ash), Feb. 23, GNA – Akosua Lawah, a 33-year-old pregnant woman, died on the spot when she was knocked down by a 207 Benz bus at Baaniekrom, near Nyinahin on Saturday. Police Sergeant Stephen Darko of the Nyinahin Police Motor Transport and Traffic Unit, told GNA that the woman was killed by the vehicle with registration number AS 5776 Y travelling from Bibiani to Kumasi, while crossing the road at about 1900 hours. Sergeant Darko said Thomas Asamoah, driver of the vehicle, was in police custody while the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital for autopsy.
