Pregnant woman dies in accident

Garu (U/E), May 3, GNA – A thirty-eight-year-old pregnant mother of four, died on the spot when a truck she was travelling on somersaulted at the outskirts of Garu on Tuesday. Asiini Laari was said to be returning home on board the truck together with other traders on its way from Nakpanduri, in the Northern Region when the accident occurred.

The rest sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged at the Garu Health Centre.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ahmed Alhassan, Garu District Police Commander confirmed the incident and said the driver, Kassim Buladib, of the truck with registration number AS 5127 F, has been placed into police custody for further investigations. He explained that the investigations would ascertain how a vehicle that was meant to carry goods rather carried persons.
