Out of the 20 candidates who failed to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Bolgatanga Municipality, two were reported to be pregnant.
They were among six out of 363 candidates who failed to write their examination at the Bolgatanga Secondary School Centre.
These came to light when GNA went round some of the centres on Tuesday.
Two girls from Mount Sinai and Anglican Junior Secondary Schools (JSSs), were said to be deceased while at the Bolgatanga Girls’ Secondary School Centres ‘A’ and ‘B’, three out of 584 candidates from three schools could not turn up.
At the Bolgatanga Technical Institute Centre, out of 363 candidates, six were absent.
Three out of 618 candidates expected to write their examination at the Zamse Secondary Technical School Centre (ZAMSTEC), failed to turn up.
The head supervisor, Mr. Augustine Gayire, said Francis Nsoh, a candidate from Sumbrungu JSS who had a slight fracture when he fell down during the start of the examination on Monday, was treated and discharged and was writing the examination.
Generally, the atmosphere in all the centres visited was peaceful and invigilators were virtually on holiday as the candidates were busily writing the examination without any problems.
There were more police personnel at all the centres compared to the situation in the previous years.
Some of the invigilators the GNA spoke to attribute the orderly atmosphere to the police presence.
In all 2,425 registered for the examination in the municipality.
