Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood has called on the clergy to work towards upholding the country’s peace and security.
Speaking at the 25th anniversary of the Revival Restoration Centre Assemblies of God Church Sunday July 3, the Chief Justice said without peace and security, the country could not enjoy the benefits bestowed on it by God, adding that churches must recognise the key role they have to play in maintaining the peace.
“Dedicate yourselves as individuals to the service of this nation. Seriously commit to the intercessory ministry and pray for this city, this country, and its leaders as God enjoins us in 1Timothy 2: 1-4,” she stated.
“Peace and security [are] critical to…enjoyment of the full benefits of what God has richly endowed on us. And equally important, it is only peace and security that will enable us to serve him and share with others the gospel of peace, which he has so graciously entrusted to us who believe.”
Ghana goes to the polls later in the year to elect a new president and Members of Parliament. Ahead of the elections, there have been calls on the clergy, Muslim leaders, and traditional authorities to preach peace before, during, and after the elections.
