PPP’s popularity threat to NDC, NPP – Sammy Awuku

The growing popularity of the Progressive Peoples Party is a major threat to the ruling National Democratic Congress and the opposition New Patriotic Party, the NPP National Youth Organizer has revealed.

According to Sammy Awuku, the votes garnered by the party in the 2012 elections makes it difficult to ignore them in future election analysis.

The PPP -a new entrant- in the Ghanaian political landscape gathered over 64,267 votes in the 2012 elections representing 0.58 % of the total votes cast; becoming the third political force in Ghana.

“The PPP’s confidence should be a worry to NDC and NPP. They targeted the youth, and most of their votes came from the youth, they did well.

“2012 was their first election and the strategic nature with which they approached the election should be a cause for major worry. I met them in all the universities across the country, and they appear to be clear in their minds the segment of the electorates they wanted to appeal to ” Awuku told Accra-based Radio XYZ.
