PPP youth blames EC for Akua Donkor’s tantrums

National Youth Co-ordinator of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP,) Divine Nkrumah, has stated that Ghanaians should blame the Electoral Commission (EC) for what he describes as the continuous “unguided public remarks” by the flag-bearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP,) Madam Akua Donkor.

According to the PPP youth leader, the controversial GFP founder would not have gained that notoriety if the EC had not given her a certificate to operate a political party.

Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 Mr. Nkrumah could not, by any shred of imagination, understand why the EC allowed a personality like Akua Donkor to run a political party without taking into consideration the Political Parties’ Law.

“If the EC should go by what the Political Parties Law says about the formation of political parties in the country, I don’t think parties like the GFP and United Progressive Party (UPP) will qualify as political parties,” he averred.

He claimed that such “shallow” political parties did not meet most of the requirements and therefore wondered what could have accounted for their approval as political parties.

“Competence yields better results and for President John Dramani Mahama to surround himself with “loud mouths” instead of enriching his close circles with competent people, has accounted for the inadequate development we see in Ghana,” the PPP man intimated.

Madam Akua Donkor’s latest outbursts when she recently joined President Mahama on a trip to Italy, according to the PPP youth leader, were uncalled for.

And not only was he worried about Akua Donkor’s inclusion in the president’s delegation, but was equally perplexed why she should be allowed to speak on matters of national interest of which she had no knowledge about.

The founder of GFP was part of Ghana’s delegation to the Milan Expo that was to woo Italian investors into the country.
