PPP won’t contest all 275 seats – Ladi Nylander

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has said it will not field candidates for all the 275 seats in parliament in this year’s election.

Mr Ladi Nylander, a founding member of the party, speaking to Class News, said PPP candidates will not be going to parliament with the aim of becoming Ministers, but to make laws to make sure the country is run properly.

“It is quality that matters and not quantity. In fact, I am almost sure that we will not fill every constituency. If we don’t get a good candidate, we will not fill them. We are only fielding those, who we think when they get there will do the job”, he stated.

“One thing that you have to consider or you have to think about is that people go and they get into parliament and straightaway, they want to become Ministers but parliament is actually for legislating, giving us laws, making sure that the country is properly run, so all of them know that they are not going there just because they want to be Ministers, they are going there to be legislators and that is what we are concentrating on”, he added.
