PPP urges Ghanaians to engage positively in biometric registration exercise

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) on Tuesday urged all Ghanaians to engage “fully and positively” in the on-going biometric voters registration exercise, assuring its members, supporters and well-wishers that the party was fully engaged in the exercise.

A statement issued in Accra by the National Secretariat of the Party and copied to the GNA said the PPP had deployed vehicles and logistics in all the 10 Regions to assist its executives to monitor the registration exercise.

It said the party had agents on standby to address issues encountered on the ground, and had selected about 50 constituencies for special continuous attention throughout the registration period.

“We encourage our campaign volunteers and executives in all constituencies to spend time at the polling stations and report their observations to the appropriate local, regional and national officers.

“As a law-abiding national organisation, the PPP wishes to remind our members and supporters to conduct themselves with discipline and not engage in any physical or quarrelsome way,” said the statement signed by Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, National Secretary of the party

“We want to be a positive example to the people of Ghana. We do not want the positive messages we have for the people of Ghana to be distorted in anyway. Neither do we want to be discounted in anyway. We will compile our observations for delivery to the Electoral Commission (EC) at the appropriate time”.

The party urged the EC to act with confidence, independence and professionalism, adding that, “The the EC should be quick to act and correct all issues presented from the field. The credibility of the EC cannot be compromised in any manner”.**
