PPP organizes clean-up exercise in Ablekuma Central Constituency

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) on Saturday organized a clean-up exercise in the Ablekuma Central Constituency to promote good health and to keep the surroundings’ clean.

The exercise was initiated by the Friends of Kwesi Ndoum (FKN), a youth group within the PPP and aimed at galvanizing support for Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum in the upcoming 2012 December general Election.

Mr Gabriel Appiah, Chairman of the group said the PPP was committed to the promotion of the good health of every Ghanaian, adding that, “We use so much money to import drugs to fight diseases, instead of fighting it in our localities.”

Mr Appiah noted that the outbreak of diseases was due to the lack of education, poor hygiene and poor monitoring by the authorities, adding that, “a healthy people make a healthy nation.”

Mr Ismael Kabore Ahmed, aspiring Parliamentary Candidate of the PPP in the Constituency, said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had failed the people of Ablekuma Central by not fulfilling their several promises.

He said the lack of pipe borne water was a serious problem in the constituency and promised to solve it, if given the nod to represent them in Parliament.

“I have bought six KIA Vehicles for some drivers in the area on high purchase, as part of the PPP’s plans to improve on the living standards of the people,” he said.

He said the PPP is initiating a programme to pay the NHIS premium for people above Forty years in the constituency and would also organise a football gala to foster unity among the youth groups in the area.

Ms Edith Appiah, Women’s organizer of the FKN urged Ghanaians to rally behind Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum and the PPP for improved education, health and other social interventions.

She appealed to Ghanaians to continue keeping the peace and stability that it is enjoying and called on religious leaders to preach against violence and the use of intemperate language.**
