PPP opens nominations for 2016 flagbearer slot

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) will open its nomination for the flagbearer position towards the 2016 Presidential race on December 2, 2015 and close on December 31, 2015.

The Party has thus invited members in good standing to pick up nomination forms to contest for the Flagbearer slot of the Party in the upcoming General Election.

A statement issued by the PPP in Accra on Monday and signed by its National Secretary, Murtala Mohammed said the party had also set January 13, 2016 to begin the vetting process which should end by January 27, 2016.

The election of the Party’s Flagbearer will take place on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in all the 275 Constituencies in the country and the Presidential Candidate so elected will be confirmed at the Party’s Fourth Anniversary National Convention to be held in Accra on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

The statement said the National Committee had approved GH?10,000.00 for picking up the Presidential nomination form, while filing of the form will attract a fee of GH?30,000.00 per candidate. Women and physically handicapped prospective candidates will be offered a 50% rebate.

Further rules of engagement with regards to the campaign will be communicated to the presidential aspirants when they pick their forms at the Party’s National Headquarters office, the statement added.

“While many of the 275 constituencies have elected their Parliamentary Candidates to contest the 2016 General Election, those who have not done so are encouraged to complete the process by December 31, 2016 under the supervision of their Regional Executive.

“The Party wishes every candidate good luck and hope for a clean campaign during our primary,” the statement said.
