PPP holds elections in Cape Coast North and Assin Central

As part of efforts to re-organise and strategise for the 2016 General Election, the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has begun the process of electing executives in constituencies across the country.

Over the weekend, the party organised separate elections in Cape Coast North and Assin Central all in the Central region, to elect constituency executives to steer affairs of the party towards the 2016 polls.

At Cape Coast North, about fifty five (55) persons gathered to witness the event.

The election was supervised by a representative from the Electoral Commission (EC,) Mr. Richard Asenso. All the positions were keenly contested for.

After the elections, eleven (11) persons were elected to be constituency executives for Cape Coast North.

Party members who were present at the ceremony pledged to support the newly-elected executives to make the constituency, and by extension the region, a stronghold of the PPP.

Some of the delegates who spoke to Today after the elections also described the event as “very successful.”

Among the newly elected Cape Coast North executives were Chairman, Samuel Arthur; 1st Vice Chairman, Fynn Abdul Hakeem; 2nd Vice Chairman, Mordecai Asare Mensah; Secretary, Amina Abdulai, Organiser, Nyure Felix Ferme; Assistant Organiser, Ebenezer Oduro; Women’s Organiser, Asana Ayyub, and; Assistant Women’s Organiser, Dorcas Acquah.

The rest were Youth Organiser, Edward Kissi Asante; Treasurer, Baiden Gideon, and; Communication Director, Frimpong Isaac Asante.

Similarly, constituency elections were held in Assin Central. The EC in the person of Mr. Kenneth Opoku Agyemang was there to supervise the elections. In all twelve (12) persons were confirmed for various positions from chairperson to assistant youth organiser.

Party members who were present at the ceremony pledged to work with the new executives to bring more members for the constituency and the party The new executives for Assin Central Constituency were Chairperson, Rose Teye; 1st Vice Chairman, Akwasi Asumani; 2nd Vice Chairman, Gideon Osei Frimpong; Secretary, Eric Nyimful; Assistant Secretary, Augustine Brown, and; Organiser, Louis Kuranchie.

The rest were Assistant Organiser, George Appiah; Women’s Organiser, Emelia Nyarko; Assistant Women’s Organiser, Vidal Narh; Youth Organiser, Ezekiel Animakoh; Assistant Youth Organiser, Emmanuel Abekah, and; Treasurer, Ruth Boady.
