PPAG organises workshop for reproductive health service providers

Akropong-Akuapem (E/R), April 17, GNA – Community-based reproductive health service providers are to be trained to educate the people on reproductive health and environmental issues under a new policy of the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG).

Miss Paricia Kodjoe, Community-based Reproductive Health Service (CBS) Co-ordinator for the Eastern Region, announced this at the close of a two-week training workshop for 28 CBS providers drawn from the Kwahu South District.

She told the participants that under the new policy, the CBS providers would in addition to distributing condoms, also offer first aid services. The participants were nominated by their communities to be trained by the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) to work in their localities.

Miss Kodjoe said the CBS agents are also being trained to distribute contraceptive pills using the “check list system” to access their clients. Nana Somoah Mereku Nyampong, chief of Kwahu Asakraka, urged the participants to extend their educational campaigns to schools in their communities.
