Power-sharing dangerous for Ghana – K.B. Asante

Retired Diplomat K. B. Asante says power-sharing will eventually lead to sharing of corruption by top politicians who assume the reins of governance.

His concerns come on the heels of suggestions by governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Dr. Kwabena Adjei and Accra Metropolitan Archbishop of the Catholic Church, Charles Palmer-Buckle that the two main parties involved in the election petition case share power.

They believe power sharing will help lessen political tensions in the country, especially after the August 29 verdict of the Supreme Court on the petition.

K. B. Asante, however, told XYZ Breakfast Show on Friday that power-sharing will only lead to sharing of other political vices while the main issues that affect Ghanaians remain unattended.

“I am not happy at all about this sharing power. Eventually you share corruption…that is not what we want. We want friendly controversy. We want friendly dialogue,” he told XYZ morning show host, Moro Awudu.
