POTAG calls off strike

Ho, July 24, GNA – The Ho branch of the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) on Wednesday called off the strike action it embarked on since July 10.

A statement issued on Thursday said the decision was taken by members “as a result of the government now fulfilling its part of the agreement with POTAG in relation to the implementation of the 17 per cent salary increment and its arrears to all polytechnics in Ghana”

The members appealed to the government and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to ensure the quick implementation of the report of the Technical Committee on salary structure for Polytechnics to promote industrial peace between Polytechnic staff and the Ministry.

“We the Ho Polytechnic POTAG wish to further appeal to the government to be proactive in dealing with issues affecting the Polytechnics to avert similar actions in future,” the statement said.

Mr Seth K Dzokoto, Chairman and Mr Simon K.M Avorgah, Secretary signed the statement.
