Dear Members,
We wish to inform the members of the Asanteman Association of New York that,
the elections which was schedule on the December 12Th, 2010 to elect the Queen
Mother (Ohemaah) was postponed due the Chairman of the Electoral Commission
Bismark Dadzie’s unwillingness to provide the candidates with the number of
eligible members who were qualified to vote.
Prior to the day to elect the persistent efforts and demand made by Nana
Acheampong-Tieku and Nana Afua Bemah to the Chairman of the electoral commission
to let them have
the list of the members in good standing fell into deaf ears.
On the day of the election after a lot of pressure from some observers, the
Electoral Commissioner finally provided the list but most of the members who
were supposed to be voting were not eligible (25 Members).
We also want to let the members to be aware that, the way to elect the Queen
Mother (Ohemaah) was not done in a Free, Fair and Democrat manner.
The list of the voters was presented by the electoral Commissioner on that day
of elections was total bloated. Unqualified votes who owe the association three
to four years
of dues were all allowed by the commissioner on the voting list.
Three members of the election board told the members present that the electoral
commissioner did all this by himself without consulting them.
They all found out about the list on December 12Th as all the members who were
there
to vote.
Because of this the members who were present at that time realized that the
process of the election by the electoral commissioner was fraud so the grounds
to elect the Queen Mother (Ohemaah) was not conductive and that led to the
demonstration by some supporters to stop the election.
At that moment , three Electoral Board members present declared Nana
Acheampong-Tieku the new Asantemanhene of New York since he ran unopposed and
powder was poured on him a as tradition demands.
Mr. Bismark Dadzie lacks Credibility, Competent, Transparency and is being
manipulated
by some dis-grunted members of the Association in New York.
This is the true picture of what did happen on the December 12Th, 2010 @ 127Th
127st Harlem and we three Electoral Board Member’s are by this letter urging
the members of the Association to fix a new date to elect a new Queen Mother.
