Post Teachers to Mbraim JSS – Assemblyman

Twifo Mbraim (C/R), April 11, GNA – All the 34 candidates presented by the Mbraim D/A Junior Secondary School (JSS) in the Twifo-Hemang-Lower Denkyira District, for the 2005 Basic School Certificate Examination (BECE) failed.

According to the Assembly Member for the area, Mr Godfred Osei Bonsu, non of them qualified for Senior Secondary School. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Twifo Mbraim, the best aggregate was 36.

He attributed the abysmal performance to lack of teachers and commitment on the part of the few at post.

Mr Bonsu stated that there were only three teachers at the school with 82 pupils, adding that the few at post were committed to their private businesses and trading.

The Assembly Member said that they were always found at their stores and engaged in their private ventures when they should be in the classroom.

He called the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service to step up supervision of schools to ensure that teachers produced their best and to post more and qualified staff to ensure that the government’s capitation grant did not go to waste. Mr Bonsu stressed the need for the country’s future leaders to get the best education possible to enable them to develop their talents and potentials for their benefit and that of the nation
