Porter in court for stealing

Accra, Feb. 25, GNA – A female porter who allegedly siphoned her employer’s 2.5 million cedis and hid it in her underpants on Friday appeared at District Magistrate’s Court charged with stealing. Asana Mohammed pleaded not guilty and the court remanded her into prison custody to reappear on March 3.

Prosecuting Sergeant Jubiok Michael told the Court that Mr Ernest Osei, a Trader, who works with Asana at his shop at Kantamanto in Accra, on February 15, detected that his cash of two million cedis, which he had placed in a drawer had been stolen.

The Prosecution said on February 23, he detected that another 500,000 cedis had been stolen.

Mr Osei confronted all the porters at his shop but they denied stealing the money.

The Prosecution said Mr Osei saw that Asana had something concealed in her shorts and he asked her to bring it out and when she did it was the 500,000 cedis.

She was handed over the Police and during interrogation she admitted the offence and confessed stealing the two million cedis earlier. 25 Feb. 05
