Porter and a colleague rape orange seller

Asamankese, May 5, GNA – Kwaku Dinado, a porter, was on Tuesday put before the Asamankese Circuit Court, charged for gang raping a 19-year-old orange seller.

His accomplice named only as Paa is on the run and the court had issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

The plea of Dinado was not taken and he was remanded in prison custody to re-appear on May 12.

Police Chief Inspector Kate Ogyiri, prosecuting, told the court that on March 16 about 2100 hours, the complainant who sold orange was on her way home through a bush path.

She said Dinado in the company of Paa standing under a tree, called the victim with the pretext that they wanted to buy some of the oranges. When the complainant got nearer to them, Dinado booted her down and forcibly had sex with her.

After Dinado had satisfied himself, Paa also jumped on her and had sexual intercourse with her.

The prosecutor said the two friends after the act took to their heels, but the complainant on getting home informed her mother of the ordeal she had been through.

The mother accompanied her to the Police station to lodge a complainant and medical forms were later issued to the victim to attend hospital and report back after treatment. On March 23, Dinado was arrested but Paa is yet to be traced. 5 May 10
