Pope John Paul II has presented a special award to Mrs Elizabeth Nelson-Mbiah, the first woman draughtsman in Ghana. The presentation is in recognition of her selfless dedication and service to the Catholic Church and a pledge of divine help and favor.
The Reverend Father Henry K. Egyir, Parish Priest of the Saint John Catholic Church, Saltpond, presented the award to Mrs Nelson-Mbiah during a church service. The award was received in Ghana through the Most Reverend Peter K Appiah-Turkson, Catholic Archbishop of Cape Coast. Mrs Nelson-Mbiah is a past regional Noble Lady of the Ladies of Marshall Commandry 35, Saltpond. She has served as a member of the Saint John’s Catholic Church advisory board for nine years and also on the Saint Peter’s Cathedral Parochial Council in Kumasi for two terms, among other leading roles in the church. Mrs Nelson-Mbiah retired from the Town and Country Planning Department after 40 years of dedicated service.
