Pope Francis I is new Pope

Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina has been elected the first ever pope of the catholic church from Latin America. His papal name will be Pope Francis I.

White smoke coming out of the chimney of the Sistine Chapel indicated that a new Pope has been chosen in the Vatican.

The the 76-year-old Pope was chosen after five rounds of voting in the conclave by 115 cardinals who were locked inside conclave to choose the next Pope.

Thousands of people gathered at the St. Peters Square to witness the introduction of the new Pope to the world.

The new pope chose his name Pope Francis I after which he was introduced to the world as the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church.
