Polytechnics Lecturers, TEWU call off strike

Accra, July 25, GNA – National offices of the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) and Central Executive Committee of Polytechnic Local Unions (CECPLU) on Tuesday directed that their members in the polytechnics call off their industrial action.

A statement signed by Mr Dan Ayim Antwi, General-Secretary of TEWU and Ms Esther Smith of CECPLU said the decision followed the resumption of negotiations on the deferred proposals for review of the unified conditions of service for the unionised staff of the Polytechnics. The statement said COPP would reconvene a meeting of the Standing Joint Negotiating Committee within two weeks to conclude negotiation on the deferred proposals.
