Polling starts late in communities in Sissala West

Voting in most communities in the Sissala West Constituency of the Upper West region started late due to the late delivery of election materials to polling centres in those communities.

Voting began after 0800 hours in most of the polling centers in remote areas of the constituency because the election materials arrived at Du West in the Zini Traditional Area of the Constituency at 07.20 hours from where they were carried to the remote communities for voting to start.

The communities visited by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) so far include Gumo, Lulo, Du-West, Niator and Pepilime, all in the constituency.

Voting was going on smoothly in all the polling stations without any hindrance, with 53 people casting their ballots at Gumo out of 246 registered voters as at 0905 hours, while two people could not be verified by the machine when they came to vote.

At Lulo, where voting started at 08.20 hours, two people had cast their ballots out of a voter population of 78 when the GNA visited the centre to assess the situation.

At Du-West, 22 people had voted as at 08.20 hours out of 124 voters in the register.

The National Democratic Congress, New Patriotic Party and the People’s National Convention had agents in all the polling centres so far visited by the GNA.
