The Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, Right Reverend Francis Benjamin Quashie, has called on Ghanaians to see politics as means of rendering service to the nation and not as a money making venture.
He said the current perception about politics has pushed young graduates, whose energies and talents could be tapped for national development into divisive politics, where they are engaged by political parties to defend the indefensible on radio and other platforms.
Rt. Rev. Quashie was delivering his Easter message at the Koforidua St, Peter’s Cathedral on Sunday.
According to him, in many instances, the truth is not very important and the more one tells lies about the next person, the more those lies are perceived as the truth.
He therefore appealed to Ghanaians to use the occasion of the Easter to allow love to permeate through the political life of the country.
He called for equality before the law, fairness in the political life of the country and called for the appointment of persons to responsible positions based on their competence and capacity to serve.
Bishop Quashie, also called for the fair distribution of the national wealth, describing the situation where the country would develop into a society of very few rich people with majority of the people very poor as ungodly and unacceptable.**
