Politicians should ensure propriety of conduct – Prof. Offei

Professor Stephen Offei, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has urged politicians to uphold the values of fair-play and propriety of conduct.

This he said, would help to bring down needless suspicion and tension as the struggle for political power in the December general elections became more intense.

He was addressing the 15th annual delegates’ congress of the Ashanti Regional Students Representative Council at Konongo.

“Curbing the politics of insults and ensuring peaceful elections, the role of the SHS student” was the theme.

Prof. Offei expressed discomfort with the animosity, intolerance and insults that had characterized the relations between the country’s main political parties.

He said it was time this gave way to political accommodation and tolerance and appealed to the leadership of parties to be mindful of their choice of words on the campaign platform to prevent confusion.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Mr. Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, reminded school authorities to put equal premium on good character training and sound academic work.

He said it was by so doing that the nation could be assured of responsible future leaders.
