Kumasi, Aug 9, GNA – A Superintendent Minister of the Methodist Church has advised the country’s political leaders to accept their faults and apologise when they make mistakes.
The Right Reverend Sampson Yamoah, Superintendent Minister of the Amakom Calvary Methodist Church, who gave the advice, said instead of defending and politicising everything even when they go wrong, political leaders must be humble enough to accept their faults. He was opening the 22nd first diocesan biennial conference of the Christ Little Band of the Methodist Church in Kumasi at the weekend. The three-day conference brought together members of the Band from all the 17 circuits in the Kumasi Diocese.
Rt. Rev Yamoah decried forced marriages based on wealth and admonished parents to desist from forcing their children or wards to marry people because of their wealth.
This phenomenon, he pointed out, was responsible for THE high rate of divorces and single parenthood since such marriages broke up after sometime due to the lack of love, respect and trust for each other. He asked Christians to be vigilant and shun false prophets who had emerged in the country, who preach only about wealth, the acquisition of visas and getting rich quickly instead of preaching about salvation, which should supersede anything in Christianity.
Mr Asare Yeboah, Vice-President of the Diocesan Methodist Men’s Fellowship, challenged parents to send their maid-servants and house helps to school for them to get educated and also treat them equally as their own children since they also had the right to better life. He asked men to help women to check the indecent dressing among the youth, which had invaded the country, especially in second cycle and tertiary institutions.
Opanin James Kwabena Osei, President of Christ Little Band, asked members to lead exemplary lives for others to emulate them and also encouraged them to intensify their evangelisation as they prepared to celebrate the 120 years anniversary of the Band next year.
