Political tension between NPP and NDC in Ketu-North

Ho, Nov. 24,GNA- Mr Augustine Toryiya, Dzodze District Police Commander, has noted that the unhealthy rivalry between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu-North Constituency had led to a volatile security situation in the District.

He has, therefore, suggested the need to boost security in the area during the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary polls, to ensure law and order.

Mr Toryiya was reacting to allegations made by Mr Modestus Ahiable, the Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC at a political rally that the Police was practising selective justice.

He said the tendency of the two parties to politicise any petty squabble was the cause of the political tension.

Mr Toryiya explained that it was the common practice in the area for people to read political meaning into every disagreement or brawl, leading to reprisals or threats of retaliations.

He said the Police, as a state institution was non-partisan and was only interested in the protection of lives and property.
