Political parties urged to advise agents

Accra, April 20, GNA – The Police on Thursday appealed to all political parties taking part in the election to advise their supporters and polling agents to comport themselves in the Asawase bye-election. In a statement signed by Chief Superintendent of Police, Mr D.N. Ampah Bennin, Director of Public Relations, said any individual or a group of people who were harbouring any intentions to disrupt or cause disturbances in the up-coming by-elections at Asawase, Kumasi to desist from it or to be dealt with if caught.

The statement said credible information reaching the Police indicated that some individuals and a group of persons were planning to disrupt the Asawase by-election scheduled for Thursday. It said people were being collected from outside Kumasi to be distributed in twos and threes to the 107 polling stations purposely to cause trouble.

The Police gave the assurance that they were doing everything possible to ensure a peaceful election.
