Political parties told to focus on development issues

A former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), the Very Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, has urged political parties to focus their electioneering campaign on issues affecting the socio-economic development of the nation.

They should tell the people how they are going to tackle joblessness, fight poverty, improve the sanitation situation, deal with the unstable power supply and make life better for the people.

He said vilifying political opponents, insulting, peddling lies and mischief-making was not the way to go.

The Very Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso was speaking at the launch of the 31st Anniversary Celebration of the Asante Presbytery Women’s Fellowship at Bantama in Kumasi.

“Empowered by the Holy Spirit as a believer,” is the theme of the anniversary.

The former Moderator congratulated women in the Church for the significant role they have been playing to assist the spread of Presbyterianism.

They have over the years raised substantial funds to support evangelism, skills training programmes and helping to inculcate good moral values in the youth.

The Very Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso urged them to use the occasion to take stock of their activities and plan the way forward.
