Political parties must celebrate Supreme Court verdict – WANEP

The West Africa Network for Peace Building (WANEP) says calls for non-celebration of the Supreme Court Verdict are unfortunate.

The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference said it will be dangerous for political parties to celebrate the Supreme Court’s verdict on the election petition case.

The conference called on all intended celebrations to be suspended.

Already political party leaders are reported to have given indications of holding fora to celebrate the verdict should it go their way.

But President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, Most Reverend Joseph Bonsu told a press conference in Accra that the peace of the country could be put in jeopardy if care is not taken.

However, the National Coordinator of WANEP Alimu Dialo in an interview with XYZ News said it will be unfair to prevent parties in the case from celebrating the outcome of the verdict if it goes their way.

He however suggested that such celebrations be done with moderation.

Mr. Dialo said suppressing people’s feelings could be counter-productive.
