Political manifestos don’t address our concerns – Pensioners

Pensioners in the Volta Region have chastised political parties in the country for their silence on the welfare of pensioners in their manifestos ahead of the December general elections.

“We have not heard of the name of pensioners in all the manifestos and we will say that there is no future of pensioners in the country,” a press release, signed on behalf of pensioners in the Region by Reverend Professor W.K. Opare, Chairman, Ho Local Pensioners Association, said.

“It is as if we are not alive. Though we retired, we are not tired. We still have a lot to offer the country. We are the oil in the ship of the State and should not be ignored and neglected,” Mr Opare said.

The release said the omission showed that the political parties were not “pensioners and the aged friendly” and asked them to remedy the anomaly before the polls.
