Political leaders urged to demonstrate commitment to peace

The National President of the Christian Friends of Democracy, a civil society organization, Reverend Samuel Adjei, has urged the leadership of political parties to demonstrate their commitment toward ensuring peace.

He said this they could do by calling to order their supporters who made provocative statements on the air waves that “poison” the peaceful atmosphere in the country.

Rev. Adjei said Ghanaians should ignore political programmes, which panelists made provocative statements that tended to destroy the good international image of Ghana, especially discussions on activities surrounding the funeral and burial of the late President John Evans Atta-Mills.

He made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua on Monday, over pronouncements being made by some political activists on the air waves in an attempt to vilify the late President.

Rev. Adjei called on Ghanaians to stand firm to defend what was right and ignored people who engaged in activities and pronouncements that would not promote peace.**
