Political leaders must listen to concerns of the people- Ankomah

Kumasi, June 5, GNA- Mr Owusu Ankomah, an Independent Presidential aspirant, has advised political leaders to show concern for the poor and the needy and that it was by so doing that the country’s young democracy could be developed.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Friday, Mr Ankomah said he felt sad when most politicians treated any criticism no matter how genuine or well intended it was as a “political mischief”.

He said he had no doubt that Ghana has all it takes to develop and become an economic success given the right direction.

Mr Ankomah said if given the mandate in the December polls, he would ensure that problems facing the nation were addressed using internal solutions and not through “imported prescriptions”. He said he would see to it that the country’s educational system was restructured with special focus on vocational and technical training.

He criticised the present language policy in schools, which makes the use of the English language mandatory for all pupils and students, saying this was an affront to the dignity of Ghanaians.
