Kumasi, Aug. 4, GNA- Right Reverend Nuh Ben Abubekr, Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church, has advised political leaders and their followers to exhibit maturity in their campaigns to ensure peace in the December 7 elections. He stressed the need for them also to avoid provocative utterances, which could undermine the election, and asked them to use decent language during their campaigns.
Rt Rev Abubekr was preaching a sermon at the end of a four-day crusade organized by the Church at Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Sunday. The crusade was under the theme “Keep the Fire Burning”. He expressed concern about increasing immorality like occultism, prostitution, alcoholism, drug peddling, HIV/AIDS and others, and appealed to Christians to pray unceasingly to God to help transform the society.
The Methodist Bishop urged Christians to be committed and dedicated to the worship of God. Rt Rev Abubekr advised Christians to live exemplary lives worthy of emulation as society looked up to them as agents of change. He told them to let their ‘light shine’ in all their endeavours to ensure the development of the church and the country as a whole. Special prayers were offered for the Government and the people, for God’s protection and guidance, to ensure stability, peace and development of the country.
