Political Groups Banned In All Military Units

Political organizations such as the ACDRs, 31st Dec. Women’s Movement, Young Elephants “Asieho” groups among other such groups, have been proscribed in all military units.

The action is to ensure military professional development and political neutrality in the army.

Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor, Minister of Defence, disclosed this at the meet-the-press series in Accra yesterday.

He said he was happy that soldiers no longer paraded drinking spots, lorry parks, cinema halls and market places intimidating civilians with their weapons.
