A political analyst and lecturer at the University of Cape Coast has lauded the Ghana Police Service’s move to deal with politicians who make inflammatory statements.
Speaking in an interview with 3FM News, Mr. Jonathan Asante Okyere said although the police’s directive may seem to have come late, it is however not too late. “It is always better late than never even when you may think that it is a bit too late, looking at it from a different angle.
We have been hearing certain inflammatory pronouncements from politicians here and there and it is high time the police looked into that particular issue,” Mr. Asante said.
He added that “if these inflammatory pronouncements by some of our politicians are left unchecked, then it means it is going to grow into a culture of impunity.”
He encouraged the public to see the police as a neutral body and report to them matters of concern. The Director of Operations at the Ghana police Service, Superintendent Dr Benjamin Agbozo, revealed to 3FM News Wednesday the police’s intention to apprehend politicians who make inflammatory statements.
